Our story

A Sunday tradition in Browns Bay.

If you want to clean out the garage, empty your cupboards, try selling something you've sewn, crafted, built, painted or grown — come along and join us. We've been here for over twenty years, and our regulars are the heartbeat of a Browns Bay Sunday morning.

If you're looking for a bargain, a book, old tools, antiques, a second-hand lawnmower, a new outfit for that anticipated night out, or to add to your collection of fishing gear, Browns Bay Market could just be the place to find it.

It's a great place for a browse, a meander, a stroll — to kill an hour or keep the kids occupied with a change of scenery. Grab a coffee from one of the cafés bordering the market, and make a morning of it.

What we stand for

Community, craft & Coastguard.

Three things shape every Sunday we run — a welcoming community, genuine handmade and pre-loved goods, and raising funds to save lives at sea.

Community first

We're locals serving locals. Every stallholder, shopper and volunteer is part of what makes Browns Bay feel like a village — and our market is the weekly gathering place for it.

Genuine goods

New Zealand-made crafts, artisan goods, bric-a-brac and pre-loved finds — no mass-produced imports, no surplus stock from warehouses.

Saving lives at sea

Every dollar of stall fees goes to Coastguard North Shore, helping crews train and respond when our community needs them most.

Coastguard North Shore volunteers greet arriving stallholders before sunrise.
The people behind the market

Run by volunteers, for our community.

The market is run by the Browns Bay Market Charitable Trust and staffed entirely by Coastguard North Shore volunteers. Every Sunday morning from 5am, the same friendly faces set up, direct traffic, welcome stallholders, and pack down.

Our regulars trade every week, rain or shine — they're the backbone of the market and we always hold their sites. If you arrive as a casual stallholder, you'll be directed to the general admission area once the regulars are in.

Please be kind to the volunteers — we're all here simply wanting to raise money to help "Save Lives at Sea".
